5 Homemade Hair Masks Using Items In Your Pantry
Everybody wants luxe beautiful hair, but hair treatments can be expensive, especially when you’re doing them once a month (sometimes more!) Whether you’re on a dollar or dime budget, here are some homemade hair masks that will give you that high dollar look!
1. For Hair Growth
Ingredients:
1 egg
1 tbsp of coconut oil
1 tbsp of olive oil
2 tbsp of honey
Microwave coconut and olive oil for 10-15 seconds, or until it is in liquid form. Let cool slightly (you don’t want a scrambled egg!) and mix all ingredients. Massage into hair and cover with shower mask (or a plastic bag) if you don’t have a mask for 30 minutes. Rinse and shampoo.
Note: For an added moisturizer and a nice smell, add a few drops of lavender oil to the mix
2. For Squeaky Clean Hair
Ingredients:
½ c of plain yogurt
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp water
Mix all ingredients, apply and massage into scalp. Leave for 1 minute and rinse.
3. For Thicker Hair
Ingredients:
1 banana
1 egg
½ c of flat beer (use a pale ale like Bud Light as opposed to a stout or IPA)
1 tbsp honey
Mash banana and mix in egg until the mixture is smooth and then add beer and honey. Apply and massage into hair for 5 minutes. Leave the mixture on the head for one hour. Rinse and shampoo.
Note: Use a comb in the shower to get out any residual banana chunks
4. For Softer Hair
Ingredients:
½ avocado
1 tsp olive oil
Blend avocado and olive oil until smooth. Apply to damp hair, let sit for 10 minutes and rinse.
5. For Oily Hair
Ingredients:
5-7 strawberries
½ c plain yogurt
½ tbsp. apple cider vinegar
Blend strawberries and yogurt in a food processor or blender until smooth, and then mix in vinegar, massage into hair, focusing on oil-producing areas of the scalp and around the ears. Leave for 2-3 minutes and rinse.
