Thigh High Ugg Boots: The Fashion Trend Of 2018?
If you thought the Ugg boot trend was over with, don’t hold your breath. This past week Ugg introduced a whole new style of Ugg boots that has the internet in a frenzy, and that is thigh high Ugg boots. That’s right, these ugly shoes were introduced at the Men’s Paris Fashion Week as a collaboration with the brand Y/Project, who’s known for their loose fitted layers. The new version of the comfort shoe now stretches far above the knee, and is a whole new twist on the shoe we hate to love.
The Response Is Mixed
With the debut of the new shoe came a lot of mixed responses from consumers. Some good, some bad, and some just down right funny (like the one below).

The Reasoning
Although the new Ugg shoes response isn’t overwhelmingly supportive, according to Vogue, the Y/Project’s creative director Glenn Martin decided to collaborate with the brand due to the shoes comfort.
“Putting on Uggs is like putting your foot in a warm pot of butter, and I thought why not elevate that and immerse your full legs! So we decided to design an Ugg boot that climbs up to the crotch and covers the whole leg.”
He’s not wrong, they are comfortable. The Y/Project showcased three versions of the new high-style boot at their runway show, which consisted of a layered boot, the classic tan, and black!
Will They Catch On?
That’s a good question; and something that only time can answer. However, if there’s anything that I can say, it’s that when the original Ugg debuted on the runway the response wasn’t extremely supportive either. A lot of people thought the shoe was… well, ugly. If you ask me, these are even ugglier – which may oddly be what people are looking for.
