Why You Should Be Excited To Go Back To School
Well, it’s that time of the year again. School will be right around the corner soon. Yes, the fact that school is starting does have its disadvantages. There will be an endless array of tests and quizzes. You’ll have crazy long papers to write, which will require you to use every word in the English language you know. And inevitably, there’s going to be that one project that will take the entire semester to complete where you and one other person are the only people actually doing work. I know it doesn’t sounds like it, but there are still plenty of reasons to be excited to kick off the new school year!
You’ll get to see all of your friends.
You may have friends that you only get to see when you go home for the summer, but your college friends have missed you over the summer too! It’s always great to get back on campus and surround yourself with friends from school who understand your schedule, are willing to stay up late with you to study for finals, and who just get what the college experience is like at your school.

You get all the free stuff.
And I mean ALL the free stuff, especially if it’s your first year of college. If that’s the case, there is most likely an entire week dedicated to you before classes start. At my university, we call it “Welcome Week”. It is filled with social events geared specifically towards freshman to make sure that first-year students feel welcome and prepared for the year ahead of them. You better believe there’s free food and maybe even a few swag bags at all of these events. Also, tons of stores and websites give you discounts just for being a college student!

There are plenty of fun events and ways to get involved.
I love that back to school feeling I get at the beginning of the semester. All of the clubs and organizations usually have all of their mass meetings to help students get involved on campus. And the great thing about college is that there’s hundreds of student-run organizations to choose from. Interested in giving tours of the campus? Would you like to plan events that go on at your school? Want to join a Quidditch team? There are probably organizations at your school for all of those things. Also, if you’ve been thinking about going Greek, now’s your chance to do so.

Each year is an entirely new experience. Each year, you take new classes, you meet new people, you learn new things and there are new opportunities that may present themselves to you. Take this next semester as a chance to improve yourself and just have fun. College goes by faster than you think, so make sure you’re getting as much out of it as you can. Ten years down the road, you’ll thank yourself for it.
Don’t let the idea of a possibly stressful semester stop you from getting excited for the school year. I hope I’ve helped you get psyched for next semester and with that being said, good luck, fellow students!
