The Wave Flat Iron Technique Everyone Is Trying
Hairstylists all over have become obsessed with the new wave flat iron technique also known as the “s” wave. This technique allows you to get beautiful waves in minimal time with a few simple steps. Here is how you can get the waves everyone is trying!
1. Prep your hair as normal
If you have “dirty” hair that hasn’t been washed, but is straight or wavy, you don’t have to wash it. The dirtier your hair, the better off it will stay wavy. But, if you want to wash, make sure you dry and prep your hair like you normally would.
2. Start with the flat iron a few inches away from your scalp
You want to start about 2-3 inches away from your root to get the best wave base.
3. Drop the hair into the flat iron in a bend
When you normally straighten your hair, you pull the hair tight. But, you want to do the opposite and have your hair drop in a bend into the flat iron. The beginning is usually the toughest because it starts off your “s”. Press the flat iron on to the hair rather than pulling it through.
4. Take the next section and push upwards into an “S” shaped bend
From the bottom, you want to push the hair into the continued “s” shape. Repeat the steps by pressing the flat iron against the hair.
5. Continue to the bottom and let sit
Follow these steps all the way down and spray with hair spray as you go.
6. After the hair has cooled down, separate it
Let your hair completely cool before you separate it or fluff it. This allows your hair to set, giving you the prettiest waves.
VOILA! You have beautiful flat iron waves. The more practice you have, the better you will get at perfecting the look.
