1. Lake Compounce was your spot to hangout
You know you spent everyday here in middle school because there was nowhere else to go and everyone had a season pass (or got a stamp and re-stamped your wrist to get in for free)
2. You remember the Centre Mall
Otherwise known as “empty lot” and “grass patch”. You probably went to a carnival on the death site of the best restaurant ever: Centre Mall Pizza
3. Muzzy is like your second home
At one point or another you found yourself sitting in the stands watching a game with your friends, or maybe playing a game under the lights. Muzzy is a Bristol experience that everyone can share.
4. You know about the ‘Bristol Boys’
If you’ve heard of it, it’s probably because one of your older friends or siblings told you. It’s like a legend in the city, and that’s probably because not many interesting things happen.
5. You love Riverside
The best breakfast place, hands down. If you go on a Sunday, prepare to wait, but it’s so worth it.
6. You’ve seen a Rockwell fight
You’ve probably seen at least one fight at Rockwell if you live in Bristol, if not more. They’re usually about drugs or kids in the skate park. Sometimes both.

Aka the greatest high school rivalry.

Remember when there were 6+ bomb threats in less than 2 weeks? Welcome to Bristol.

10. You took the CMT
Hell on Earth. Children suffering. Hours of meaningless testing for so many years. The CMT is a traumatizing part of childhood in Bristol as well as throughout Connecticut. Hopefully you were lucky enough to have a teacher who gave you snacks before/after.
11. You’ve been stuck at the railroad crossing
The slowest train you ever did see, long as hell crossing the street when you need to be somewhere!
12. You did the library summer reading as a kid
“Read” a book and get free stuff? I read 23 books in 5th grade according to my library calendar, and I enjoyed lots of ice cream and raffle prizes from Bristol Public Library. No sparknotes needed, just a mom who will sign off on it because she wants free shit too.
13. You’ve been to a Cedar Lake party
Someone you know has a house on Cedar Lake and they had a party and somehow you wound up there. If it hasn’t happened yet, trust me, it will.
14. You remember Shaw’s closing
RIP to the best store ever closing and being replaced years later by a Walmart that is also now closing.

You know the traffic is the worst, especially during construction as they take their sweet time and make it a one lane road while a thousand people are trying to get through.

You froze your ass off at 10am watching your highschool play football and you liked it. And so did the rest of the city.

It’s just a bunch of graffiti but everyone knows about it because it’s one of the only interesting things we have.

19. You hate the West End
The scariest place to be at any hour of the day. Police are always there but that doesn’t help much. The traffic is terrible too since the road literally doesn’t make sense. The only good reason to risk going to the West End is to go to West End Pizza.

Yes, Aaron Hernandez is from Bristol. Most of us met him before, and we know his whole family, and yes we’re all upset. Why is this the only thing we’re known for?
