1. Update your resume often as needed by conducting thorough research especially if you’re extra motivated to fulfill your career hunting.

Always have an updated resume ready to go. It does not matter how experienced you are you must narrow your highlights and peak performance of jobs onto one page even if you think it deserves two pages.

2. Practice interviewing and turn taking with a study buddy or aloud with someone you trust.

You should always been ready for any interview questions your potential employer will ask. Whenever you and your roommate are bored, look up interview questions and practice asking each other them!

3. Print at least three copies and select a nice portfolio or black folder to place them in.

You never know if there will be more than one person assisting in interviewing you as the ideal candidate, especially in today’s highly competitive internship market. Always have an extra copy, the interviewer will be impressed!

4. Conduct lots of research without overwhelming yourself with so much information in one research sitting.

Think outside the box, even if your internship is not in the creative industry. If you are near downtown or have access to more than a campus library but can visit a local library or the city library, go inside and spend time there to do research on your career. There are so many books you can check out or browse through at a library table and enjoy in your own productive time.

5. Get a good night’s rest prior to your interview that’s scheduled or power nap.

Not only does taking a long nap after a long day, or going to bed early the night before allow you to wake up early and feel refreshed, it restores your brain power and energy level for the ultimate interview day.

6. Assure that all your technology requirements are up to date in case you are conducting a virtual conference.

Some internships require you use a messenger service similar to the ancient AOL Messenger service for face to face or group chat conversations. Examples of group hangouts and conference calls such as Skype Messenger are quite popular amongst technology essentials you ought to download beforehand simply by asking your potential intern manager.
