15 Best Clubs To Get Involved In At Clemson
Are you going to be a freshman in the fall or are you looking for a way to be more involved!? Being part of a club or organization is the easiest way to do these things and meet a lot of new people! There is a club for everyone and anything! Here’s a list of the 15 best clubs to get involved in at Clemson!
1. GIVE.
GIVE stands for “Growth International Volunteer Excursions”. It’s a program that provides an amazing opportunity for Clemson students to travel abroad and improve the lives of those in third world countries. You can choose between amazing destinations such as Tanzania and Zanzibar Island, Nicaragua and the Caribbean, Laos, Thailand, and South East Asia! And now for the first time you can receive academic credit for this experience!
2. Take Note (aka the Pitch Perfect of Clemson).
If you can sing this is the perfect organization for you! Take Note is Clemson’s exclusive all female a-capella ensemble focused primarily on pop music. Take Note puts on multiple concerts each year and they are nothing short from amazing! Maybe they’ll even break out in some horizontal running (shout out to Fat Amy).
3. Central Spirit. Go Tigers!
Central Spirit’s main objective is to attend all athletic events at Clemson University (um I do this already). This club involves a lot of cheering, so if you’re a naturally positive person this may be the perfect choice for you! In addition, they also put on multiple events throughout the year including: First Friday, Homecoming, the Spring Blitz, and more.
4. Clemson Club Rowing.
Clemson Club Rowing (aka Crew) is a co-ed club sport with around 100 members. It’s a great way to stay in shape and make some amazing friendships that you will carry with you for the rest of your life. Clemson crew has all the attributes of a social organization, complete with their own functions, spring break training trip, mountain retreat, semi formal, and formal. The team competes in regattas (competitions) both at Clemson and in Tennessee and Georgia against other club teams and division one schools.
5. Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
FCA is a club that has personally changed my life. I found FCA because a couple of my friends invited me to come with them my first semester at Clemson, and I have been going ever since. Clemson FCA is a non-profit, non-denominational student-led ministry that encourages students to receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and serve Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church. I have found some of my best friends through this club and I have had experiences that I will take with me through the rest of my life.
6. Water Sports Club.
Water Sports Club is one of the coolest clubs on Clemson’s campus. You have the option of just being in the club or competing on the club team. Competitions include slalom, trick skiing, and jump skiing. One of the best parts of this organization is you have access to the clubs state of the art equipment and boats. You simply sign up for a time slot and you and your friends can enjoy a day on lake Hartwell skiing, wake boarding, or just riding around! What could be more perfect?!
7. Clemson Skydiving Club (yes real skydiving).
If you have always wanted to try skydiving or learn all about it, this club is the real deal! How many colleges can you say have a skydiving club!?
8. Clemson Dancers.
Clemson Dancers is a student-led, student-taught organization offering dance classes in hip hop, jazz, ballet, contemporary, tap, and popping/breakdancing. It is a great way to continue your passion for dance in college. The organization puts on an amazing annual showcase that I was lucky enough to see this semester! If you have a talent for dancing I would definitely encourage you to try this club out!
9. CUSG- Clemson’s Student Government.
Clemson’s Student Government is composed of a legislative, executive, and judicial branch which acts as the liaison between the students and the administration, faculty, and staff. There are many different sides to this organization, so if you’re someone who wants to pass bylaws and talk about pressing issues at the University, Senate would be for you, but if you’d rather plan fun activities for students around campus Freshmen Council is probably more your style.
10. CU Smile
CU Smile is probably one of the most adorable clubs that ever existed. Its mission is to spread positivity throughout Clemson’s campus through random acts of kindness. ISN’T THAT THE SWEETEST THING EVER?!?!
11. Social Fraternity or Sorority.
Let me be honest, it is completely overwhelming. You meet all these gorgeous and amazing girls in each round telling you to rush their sorority and become their sister and best friend for life! And although it’s hectic and hella stressful, once you find the right fit for you it can be amazing! Some of my best memories from Clemson are because of my sorority. But it’s definitely not for everyone so don’t worry if it’s not your thing! I do encourage incoming freshmen to go out for recruitment regardless of if you have the intention to join a sorority or fraternity because it’s a great way to meet a ton of people at Clemson!
12. Clemson Scuba Club.
Do you love scuba diving? Never tried it before but always wanted to? This is the perfect club for you!
13. Professional Fraternity.
I know that “professional fraternity” probably doesn’t sound like the most fun thing in the world, but don’t be too quick to judge some of them are really awesome! Clemson has multiple professional fraternities (business, engineering) that are organized to help students gain experience in their chosen career and meet like-minded people with similar goals. I am, personally, part of Delta Sigma Pi the professional business fraternity on Clemson’s campus. Joining this organization is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! I’ve met so many amazing people who have the same passion for business as I do. So try it out! You might end up loving it!
14. Clemson Climbing Club.
Rock climbing is super fun. A lot of schools don’t have a rock climbing wall, so this is a club to take full advantage of!
15. Clemson FeelGood
FeelGood is a youth-led movement turning college into a time of effective global action. On campuses across the country, students make and sell GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICHES (!!!!) to raise money and build public support for the end of extreme hunger and poverty.
