5 Tips For Getting Through The End Of The Semester
It’s that time of the semester when professors are packing on exams, pushing papers down our throats, and being nonstop naggers. Some students may admit to secretly having a little cry fest and pity party for themselves, and if you don’t admit it, you’re probably lying. Having your own bed, home-cooked meals, and some love from your dog, seems so close yet so far away, so here are some tips to help you push yourself to finish the next few weeks on a good note.
1. Take breaks.
Okay, taking a break every five seconds when doing the homework may not be the best idea, but I think we can all admit that checking our phone every 20 minutes won’t hurt anyone. Breaks give your brain some rest from all its thinking and holding information, so take as many useful breaks you need, as long as it keeps you productive.
2. Go to the quiet rooms in the library.
Some students avoid the library at all costs, but in my personal experience I find doing homework in the quiet rooms quite useful. Working in the libraries can help you focus more because it is a quiet place to concentrate without distractions and really get into the zone.
3. Get some fresh air.
Once in a while during this time of the semester there will be those nice, sunny, warm 60-65 degree days. Get your butt outside and get some exercise and fresh air! Get away from your stress and homework and just relax for a bit. Fresh air is good for the soul, and you have to keep the soul happy!
4. Snacks, snacks, and more snacks.
The most important thing to me is eating. I think college kids can all agree how important and valuable food is. You really can’t do anything productive on an empty stomach, and that includes school work, so feel free to snack while doing your work. A few chips here and there seriously won’t kill you. Keeping your body fueled can lead to better focus for finishing out the semester strong.
5. Girls Night!
The most important thing to do after a rough week is to go out and have some fun with your best friends. In college there are plenty of ways to have fun on the weekends. From parties to movie nights, there are many opportunities to laugh away your problems with your best friends and forget about the stress of schoolwork for a little while.
