8 Staycation Ideas to do in Massachusetts

8 Staycation Ideas To Do In Massachusetts

Let’s be real planning a staycation sounds way more complicated than traveling abroad. Whether you want to escape from the mundane routines or simply explore what your state offers, both sound equally exhausting when planning. Bestie, I’ve created 8 simple guided ideas to create your life more spontaneous, all in the city of Massachusetts.

1. Hammond Castle

Was history your favorite class? If so or not, visiting Hammond Castle is one for the books. It’s open from Monday through Sunday, and you can do guided or self-guided tours. It was built in 1926 by John Hays Hammond. And it’s located in Gloucester, Massachusetts.

Why Should You Visit: enjoy the stillness of overseeing the Atlantic Ocean, and the castle is surrounded by artifacts and a combination of arts and elements. Some doors will walk you through a goth season while others open serenity.

2. Massachusetts Horticultural Society

This one is for my plant lovers. Do you enjoy nature and playing with soil? Or are you looking for various ways to care for your plants and don’t know how? Look no further, Horticultural Society cares about their community, and part of the mission is to bring awareness of change through the power of planting. So, what’s a better way of spending a morning or afternoon staycation doing things you thoroughly enjoy.

Why Should You Visit:

It is widely known for its teachings and quirky historical events. Some of those are Goddess Harvest Festival, Seeing The Invisible, Family fun in The Garden, Planting for Monarchs (Butterflies), Intermediate Photography Photoshop, and so many more. Some of the workshops are free (which is a huge plus). Despite this, some vary from $33- $48, Which is pretty inexpensive for the learning you’ll experience

3. 1981 Ramen Bar

Local restaurants just vibe different from the ones you continuously hear on social media. Ramen Bar is always at the top of my list when exploring the neighborhoods of Lowell, Massachusetts. This one is centered on the historic downtown built in 1981. Ramen Bar honors its dishes by calling itself fearless and incorporating other traditions onto its ramen.

Why Should You Visit:

While it is closed Sundays and Mondays, you can enjoy its exquisite ramen on rainy days or on a weekend when you feel like you want to go out but want more like a calm and vibrant scene. During the weekends, they have live music, and yes, you can request any song you’d like, but best of all, their customer service makes you feel right at home while being courteous and generous.

4. Movie Night

Let’s be real; making the perfect movie night takes work, especially when doing it from the comfort of your home. This can be done by yourself or with a soulmate, family member, or friends. You can be as creative as you want; there are no rules. Movie night themes, give each person a movie of the chosen genre and see what they come up with or you could even jazz it up and add a dress code to make it even more fun. Nonetheless, Movie nights bring out the best of us. While it can be done in your backyard or the living room – don’t forget to add decorations to make it even cozier.

5. Camping

As the fall weather is slowly approaching, taking in the last bit of summer on a camping trip literally screams hot cocoa, scary movies, and being aware that you don’t have a raccoon on your head when waking up. I don’t know about you but camping always takes me back to my childhood memories. And what better way to relive those moments with the people you care about the most.

6. Muse Paint Bar

Paint night sounds just as fun as the word itself. I highly recommend doing this one by yourself, as it makes you mingle with other singles and couples, and who knows, you might end up leaving with a new bestie. Muse Paint Bar is located in Assembly Row, Somerville, Massachusetts; this is for those who want to feel they are part of the city without having the hassle of actually going downtown Boston.

And, if you’re not into drinking…

For my hipsters out there, in North Andover, there’s one that’s called Painting With A Twist, and it caters to individuals who enjoy a bit or (a lot) of Mari-Jane. While enjoying a peaceful painting with a few jokes.

7. Take A Cooking Class

One of the most exhilarating experiences is learning how to cook something new. This is one of the perfect moments to share with your soulmate as things get messy, and you get to interchange laughs and balance the communication. It’s the perfect way to build romance. And, while there are many YouTube videos that teach you how to make a cuisine, experiencing it with other folks gives it a different taste of life. This particular staycation is one of my favorites; appreciating the culture and the history of food, just savor what you created ten times better.

8. Visit A Winery

If this is your first time visiting a winery, while you think about what outfit you should wear, I would highly say, Dress for comfort. You’ll be surrounded by nature, and if you are a light drinker, then heels might not be preferable. Nashoba Winery is a family-owned business located in Bolton, Massachusetts.

Why Should You Visit:

A winery that comes with a restaurant? That’s a 10 out of 10 rating for me. A place where you can enjoy a meal without wondering where to go next is ideal when playing a staycation. With breathtaking views and a girl’s night out, This winery is a perfect place to know the history of wines.

In light of summer activities endings, I hope you were inspired to recreate one of these 8 staycations to explore the state of Massachusetts with a friend, soulmate, or family member. Comment below which one you’ll do first!
