8 Fun Things To Do Around SJU This Summer
Classes are out and summer is finally in session. Say goodbye to doing homework and studying for exams. Your next three months are about to be filled with fun and excitement. Our school is located in one of the greatest cities in the world. Don’t miss your opportunities! Here are 8 fun things to do around SJU during the summer.
1. Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
The largest park in Queens is the perfect park for playing soccer, baseball, tennis, etc. It also includes a zoo, an art museum, a botanical garden and a science museum. You can even have a nice picnic with friends. Whatever you choose to do, it’ll be a great day.
2. Citi Field.
Here we have the home stadium to the Mets baseball team. Head out with friends and catch a home game. Check out the campus concierge for discounted tickets!
3. Kayaking on the East River.
Long Island City Community Boathouse partnered with Socrates Sculpture Park to bring you free kayaking. Rental is allowed for 20 minutes and if there’s no line you’re allowed to go for another 20 minutes. Rentals are located at 31-2 Vernon Blvd. Astoria.
4. Museum of The Moving Image.
This museum displays the history of film, television and digital media. Admission is free on Fridays from 4-8 PM. Any other day admission for students is $11 with a valid student ID.
5. Yoga at Socrates Sculpture Park.
Get your fitness on at Socrates Sculpture Park. Going on now until September 25th, you can head on over with your yoga mat on Sundays from 10- 11 AM. Nothing beats a workout with a view of the Manhattan skyline.
6. GMA Summer Concert Series.
Every summer Good Morning America hosts a free concert series in Central Park. You can find the concert schedule here.
7. MoMa PS1 Warm Up 2016.
Amp up your Saturdays at MoMa in Long Island City. From 3-9 PM, enjoy an evening of good music. MoMa provides the opportunity for both established and emerging artists to showcase their work. Tickets are $22 if purchased in advance and $25 at the door. Make sure to check the weather; the event will still go on in rain or shine. This amazing series ends August 27th.
8. HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival.
