Picture this: You’re excited because you’ve just booked a flight ticket to the Maldives and as you get on the plane, the excitement crumbles, you’ve got butterflies in your stomach. Why? Because you’ve forgotten to bring your favorite sunglasses that’s currently sitting on the dresser.
Worry not and get ready your notepads, I’ve got the complete checklist for your perfect tropical vacation.
When I say basic essentials, I don’t mean your shampoo or toothbrush, that’s just common sense to bring along. In this case, basic essentials mean casual clothing, for example, your everyday T-shirts or tanks. It’s always important to bring a few simple T-shirts, just in case you want to lounge around your hotel room before you head out to the adventure portion of your vacation.
The point of having basics is that you always have the option of dressing it up by pairing them with a cute mini skirt or a pair of denim shorts with some gold jewelry.
Every girl needs the perfect pair of denim shorts, which is the next crucial item for your packing checklist. The reason? Denim shorts will never go out of style and it’s a great way to dress casually. Let’s say you want to wear an extremely dressy blouse, but you’re afraid of standing out, well, wear it with the denim shorts and no one will question you.
Having dresses for your tropical vacation makes it easy and it spices up your holiday look. It’s good to bring a few dresses for both the day and night, if you want to dress up a little. Dresses are really easy to throw on and it’s simple. You can wear it to an excursion or to the market during the day, and a nice sleek one for dinner. They’re also cute for pictures.
For the day dresses, you would want to pick the more colorful, flowy kinds and ones with florals as they are meant to be worn in a casual setting. You can find dress like these at Lulus or Princess Polly.
As for the night dresses, oddly enough, these are the plainer dresses, the ones with lesser patterns and simple colors. Windsor often consists of many “dinner” and “night” dresses.
If there’s no swimming involved, can you even call it a tropical vacation? Which brings us to the forth item, swimwear. Since it’s a tropical vacation, try stepping out of your comfort zone and include some bright colors in your wardrobe. With that being said, make sure to bring your brightest-colored one-pieces or bikinis because it’s officially summer.
When you think of summer, you would think of sun, which means you are going to want to invest in a good pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes. Sunglasses are like jewelry, meaning that they can be used as an accessory for your outfit. You can take as many as five sunglasses if you want because there’s no such thing as too many sunglasses.
The next item on the list are shoes. For this vacation, you’ll only be needing two pairs of shoes. First, you’ll need a pair of sneakers. This is necessary for all the exploring you’ll be doing on the different islands or villages. A good pair of sneakers will save your feet from the soreness and blisters from the walking. Second, is some sort of “dressier” shoe. This can either be sandals or wedges which would go perfectly with your dresses for the day and night.
So, you’re all dressed up for your first day on the island only to find out that you’re missing a cute purse to go with your outfit, which is why handbags are also on the list. A summer vacation should include colorful pieces in your wardrobe, except your purse. When you’re thinking of bringing a handbag, make sure it’s a neutral color, like black, white or brown. This will make it easier to match your outfits and it will lessen the chances of people eyeing your purse.
