6 Ways To Have The Perfect First Date In Boston

So you’ve met someone, you’ve agreed to a date together, and you have your outfit ready to go. “Oh no!” you realize, in your haste you’ve neglected to figure out where you’ll be going with your new partner! Don’t worry, what follows is six ways to have the perfect first date in Boston.

  1. A Restaurant. The Classic

In my opinion, Boston is home to some of the best restaurants in the country. So me? I’m from Texas. And I don’t know if you know this, but Texas is not known for it’s seafood. As Boston is housed on the beautiful east coast, their seafood (Again in my opinion. Put down your pitchforks) is infinitely better than any seafood I ever had in Texas. And yes, I’ve been to Galveston. It was underwhelming. I’ll die on this hill.

But moving on to the point, you can never go wrong with eating together for a first date. It’s a great way to have a conversation with the person you’re with. Especially if there’s drinks. Get to know them, ask them about their lives, their jobs, their likes and dislikes, everything! We are defined by our relationships with others. And there is very little like a good conversation with someone to bring you closer while also breaking the ice. Try it. Things are a cliche for a reason. Food will always make for a great first date in Boston. And even if the date goes wrong, you can count on Boston for at the very least providing a very delicious meal. Specifically Ostra. Have you ever had it? Oh my god is so good.

2. A Walk in The Park (Literally. Or is that figuratively?)

Cards on the table, I’m broke. Very little in the bank. Normally if something is free, I can’t afford it. The problem with that is, it costs at least 49.99 to have fun. But wait! Does it? Oh wait that’s right dear friend, Boston is home to some of the finest parks around. You can meet your date there and just walk the grounds. There’s plenty to do, live music, take in the scenery, go out for a swan ride on the pond, people watch, all great first dates in Boston, and all available inside of the parks.

Hours can go by while you walk and talk with your partner, as always surrounded by the life of the city. And you never know, since Boston is home to some of the finest art colleges around, you might get lucky and run into an aspiring photographer who, in an effort to build his resume, takes you and your dates picture. Then bam! You get a free memory. Hear me out. Totally happens. Well it happens to me. Happened to me. One time. It happened to me once. Still though. Great first date in Boston.

3. The Theater District

So let’s say money is not an issue and you know your partner likes the arts. Look no further than Boston’s theater district. Specifically, the Boston Ballet.

I defy you to name a single romantic comedy where going to a ballet was not a benefit for the couple. That’s right. You can’t. Because it never happened. Because going to the Boston ballet is a great first date in Boston. You’re welcome. I’ll hold for the applause.

4. A casual meeting at a coffee shop

Not all dates need to be at a traditional spot. Sometimes I can be just a casual meet up, different strokes for different folks. In Boston is home to several different coffee shops, franchise and small time. Each and everyone offers a variety of different experiences.

And at the end of the day, sometimes you just need good old fashion Starbucks. Plus if the date goes slide-ways, you can use the free Internet to look at YouTube videos to distract from the pain of the failing of the date.

5. Walking Around Downtown

There’s something to be said about good old fashion walking around and taking in the sights. Boston at night is a living organism. The people, places, all the lights, the activities, everything. And everything communicates with everything else. Are those communications always positive? Of course not. But that’s one of the best parts of living in the city. Everything‘s different.

To walk around the city and to experience that together, is a great first date in Boston. In my less than humble opinion. Check it out. I promise you’re not gonna be disappointed.

6. The Mall

Picture this. You both have decided that you want to do some shopping, but you’re unsure where. What are you going to do? I’ll tell you what you’re going to do my friend. You’re gonna get your date, you’re going to get in your car, wait no reverse that order. After you do that, you’re going to go to the mall.

That’s right. The mall has everything. Food, clothes, coffee, books, electronics, everything you could possibly need to jam together hastily decided first date in Boston. Scratch that, great first date in Boston.

I know what you’re thinking, “Eric. Isn’t the mall sort of a thing from the 90s?“ And that’s where you’re wrong friend. The mall in Boston has not slow down. People from all walks come every single day. Just like a date at the park, another big thing you can do is get food at the food court, and people watch. You can judge everyone for what they choose to get, or you can just talk about nothing together. Either way, going to the mall is a great first date in Boston.

And that’s our list. I know what you’re thinking, “why couldn’t they will be more?“ There could’ve been more my friend. But that’s up to you to decide on. These suggestions are more guidelines, always take into account with your partner wants and likes versus what is convenient for you. But no matter what, Boston offers a plethora of different activities for you and your lucky partner to engage in. And as usual, be kind, and have fun.
