5 Smoothies To Take For Your Next Workout

It’s finally here people, 2022 has arrived! With the New Year comes new resolutions, one of those being fitness. We all want to live healthier and happier lives. But with great fitness, comes the responsibility of a great diet. And what better way to start than with great smoothies. Here are 5 smoothies to take your workout to the next level.

This recipe is perfect for when you’re looking for that classic fruit combo for your next workout.

1. Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie

Looking for a way to take your fitness to the next level without compromising your tastebuds? This protein shake is the best of both worlds. This shake has the classic taste of strawberry and banana that will help get you fit for the new year. And the best part, it takes 5 minutes to make.  When you’re craving that naturally sweet strawberry banana taste, this recipe is perfect for you. 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 2 cups ice
  • 1 scoop vanilla flavored protein powder
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter

Directions

Begin by layering your milk, strawberries, banana, peanut butter and protein powder in a blender. Blend until smooth and creamy. Serve and enjoy.

2. Blueberry Blend Protein Shake

This all time favorite is perfect for any quick trip to the gym or fast acting workout. Blueberries in themselves, are a natural super food full of antioxidants and vitamins that are necessary for our optimal health. This recipe is a great opportunity to add that extra protein with greek yogurt and almond milk. And the best part, this recipe contains honey that compliments the natural sweetness of the blueberries. Ready to get started with this blue beautiful blend? Let’s go! 

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup unsweetened almond milk ( or regular milk if you prefer)
  • ¾ cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 scoop vanilla flavored protein powder
  • 1 tsp raw honey
  • 3 to 4 cubes as needed ( use slightly more if you want a thicker texture)

Directions

Begin by pouring in your almond milk, followed by your other ingredients. Blend on medium, until it is smooth and creamy. Note that this might take a minute with the added ice and frozen blueberries. In addition, if you want to start by adding the milk first and the ice last it allows you to better control the texture of your shake. Be sure to add the honey last and thoroughly blend in. Note that honey is a natural thickener, meaning you might have to help the blender along by mixing it with a spoon after. Serve and enjoy for your next workout.

3. Kale Pineapple Smoothie

Need to up your veggie intake but hate the taste of them? If you’re like me and have trouble eating your veggies in a tasty way, this smoothie is perfect for you. This healthy smoothie is a green machine, packed full of vitamins, minerals and fiber to help you get started with your workout. This smoothie is a great balanced blend of veggies, greek yogurt, banana and pineapples. Which makes it that perfect balance of creamy, sweetness and nutrition. Ingredients

  • 2 cups lightly packed chopped kale leaves
  • 1 banana
  • ¾ cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 2 tsp honey
  • ¼ cup plain non-fat Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter
  • ¼ cup pineapple pieces

Directions

Begin by placing your kale leaves, banana, almond milk, honey, Greek yogurt, peanut butter and pineapple pieces into a blender. Blend until smooth. Note that if it is too watery, feel free to add more milk. Serve and enjoy your green machine for your next workout.

4. Chocolate Protein Shake

This shake classic is perfect to satisfy any sweet craving without that heavy calorie count. This protein shake is a personal favorite of mine when I’m working out. It provides that perfect sense of sweetness that is both soothing and refreshing after a long work out on the treadmill. What I like about this recipe is that it is not overly sweet. It is a well balanced combination of natural sweetness that keeps you coming back for more. So you’re not getting a sugary punch in the face, but rather the sweet accents of cocoa in every sip. Treat yourself for your next run on the treadmill with this chocolate shake recipe.

  • ¼ tsp vanilla protein powder
  • ½ cup banna
  • 1 full scoop chocolate protein powder

Directions

5. Matcha Green Tea Vanilla Protein Shake

When you’re looking for a little pick me up before your next work out prep, this shake is perfect for you. Not only is this recipe good for you, it is brilliant to look at, with it’s bright shades of green. Making it perfect to show off to your friends.   • 1 cup milk
  • 1 apple, cut into cubes
  • 1 banana
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • ½ baby spinach
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • ½ tsp matcha powder
  • Ice cubes to your liking

Directions

Begin by adding in your milk to the blender. Then, proceed to add your banana, lemon juice, protein powder, matcha powder, ice cubes and apples. Blend on high for 4 minutes or until smooth. Serve and enjoy.
