Whenever things seem bad or are going wrong, I remember this piece of advice from mom. She would always remind me that nothing lasts forever and that someday when you look back on it all, you’ll wonder, “Why did I think that was such a big deal??”
Sometimes you just have to put your foot down. If you don’t want to do something, don’t do it. My mother would always tell me to go with my gut instinct and if it didn’t feel right then simply don’t do it.
This piece of advice from mom is SO important. Sometimes it’s not selfish to put yourself first; you have to learn to love yourself before you can ever even expect someone else to love you too. This way you wont rely on others to make you feel good about yourself.
Why would you even want to change for someone else? My mom would often say to me, “If you feel good, don’t ever worry about what others think. If they are that bothered to try and put you down, they are not worth your time.”
According to this piece of advice from mom, if you visualize yourself having something…then it’s only a matter of time until you actually have it. Think good thoughts about the situation and it will come to you as you deserve it.
Never forget where you came from. No matter how big or successful you are, never forget who you are, or the person you were before you become who you are today.
If it feels good, do it! Don’t worry about the what “ifs”; it doesn’t matter. If you know it will make you happy, go for it with everything you have.
This advice from mom always stays with me. No matter what the situation is, or how bad you think it may be in the present moment; in 10 years you won’t care or not even remember…so just let it go.
Don’t waste your time worrying, especially about the small stuff. As my mother says, “today is the day you worried about yesterday.” Spending your days worrying stops you from living your life and being happy.
Hoping that I won’t ever make the mistakes she made, my mother always encourages me to follow her advice…she knows what she’s talking about (from experience.) Often times the mistakes we make aren’t worth the regret.
I live by this piece of advice from mom, as it is quite possible the best piece of advice I have ever heard. No matter what, whether good or bad, everything happens for a reason. Throughout my life so far, I can see this is so very true and everything does always happen for a reason.
By taking time you will get to cherish so many moments. Don’t rush your childhood – you will miss them when they are over. And don’t spent your life waiting for the next part. It will all be over before you know it, so slow down and enjoy each and every moment.
No matter what she tells me, or what I do in the end, I must admit: mother was right and I should have listened to her (although I’ll never tell her that!)
My mother would always tell me to stop worrying about what I look like – you must remember, you are your own worst critic. Years from now you will look at a picture of yourself and wish you still looked like that, because guess what – you are BEAUTIFUL!
Keeping a “down to earth” mindset keeps you grounded and humble. When it really comes down to it, we are all equal, and that is something you should never forget.
One piece of advice from mom, that she still says today, is to experience all the things she never got to. You don’t want to look back on your life wishing you had done more.
Don’t overthink appearance too much; that’s not what makes a person attractive, it all comes down to personality. A body isn’t anything without the soul and personality to make you who you are.
According to my mother, the worst thing you can do is think too much – overthinking will infest your mind with negativity and generate thoughts that shouldn’t be there to begin with.
Don’t waste your tears on people or situations that don’t deserve them. The only tears that are worth your time are the ones that fall from laughter.
There is no point in covering what you know, or how you feel, with a lie. Say what you feel and what you think, be honest with yourself and others – and all of your relationships will benefit.
