Rutgers has about 9 to 11 bus routes. Each route leads to a different campus, and it can get pretty crazy. Learn which bus to take, and learn them well.
Rutgers is made up of four different campuses: Livingston, Busch, College Ave., and Cook/Douglass. We’re basically our own little town! It’s really easy to get lost, so make sure you familiarize yourself.
During your freshman year at Rutgers, you’ll probably want to go out and explore; we get it. But be careful not to spend all your money! Budget yourself wisely; you don’t need to go out to eat for the third day in the row.
Yeah we know, once finals hit, sleep basically doesn’t exist anymore. But sleep is VERY essential. If you get a good night’s rest, you’ll be able to stay more focused while studying for your exams, and not fall asleep WHILE you take your exam!
There’s a library on every campus, and they’re all FREE. Each library should have a quiet section, so you can focus on your work instead of getting distracted.
After the first few weeks, you’ll understand that it’s a pain to go out. Weekend buses are a pain, and frat houses get too hot. Stay home and relax once in a while!
Check online before you go to your campus bookstore. You might be able to score your textbook for about $20 instead of $300.
If you’re struggling in a class, don’t be hesitant to go and ask for help. Your professors put time aside to help you out.
Rutgers hosts a lot of free events, as well as having rappers/singers come down to perform. Don’t miss the opportunity to have fun (Cash Cash came down to Rutgers last year)!
We get trouble once in a while, and some of our systems get shut down. It gets annoying, but be patient and it’ll be up and running!
If you want to do certain things during your freshman year at Rutgers, then go for it! Don’t let it hold you back. It’s your freshman year and you live and learn. It’s exciting to try different things!
