10 Weird Dream Symbols And What They Mean

Have you had some funky dreams lately? Maybe you didn’t know, but every night you have a dream. You might not be able to remember all of them, however, there are some dreams that are just unforgettable, to say the least. Maybe you were staring at your elbow, or running frantically away from crazed zombies! If this sounds like you, then read on to learn 10 weird dream symbols and what they might mean!

1. Toilet

While on the surface level toilets seem pretty nasty, in the dreamscape they can take on a whole other meaning! If you dream about a toilet, this could symbolize a cleansing or elimination of something toxic in your life. Perhaps you need to let go of some unneeded, personal baggage, or you need to forgive someone. So before you flush this dream down the drain, really think about where you are in life and if there is anything you are holding onto that needs to go.

2. Genitals

Yep. This is just awkward. But in all seriousness, if you dream of genitals, this can often symbolize creative, reproductive energy. Maybe you have some penned-up sexual feelings, or maybe you have a particular fear about your sexual identity, and how it will be perceived in public.

And, this dream can have a whole other meaning depending on what type of genital you see…

3. Salesman

If you have a dream about a salesman (or woman), this could symbolize that you are open to change, new ideas, or have a new way of looking at things, which are all positive things! Also, if the salesman is selling a house, it can mean you are finally ready to let go of an inner part of yourself that you have been holding onto. Of course, if you see Jim Halpert or Dwight Schrute in the dreamscape, it might be because you’ve been watching too much of “The Office.” But who could blame you?

4. Bulldozer

I know what you’re thinking and let me just stop you right there (sheesh, you have such dirty minds, not everything is about sex)! A bulldozer can actually symbolize a great power to either build up or tear down. It could also mean you should get ready to clear away the old and get ready for the new! And, depending on the context of the dream, it can mean either the destruction of your limits or the construction of a new life foundation.

5. Elf

I don’t know about you, but I’m picturing a badass, elven queen running through a dark forest, bow in hand, and a batch of arrows slung over her back!

While it’s hard not to immediately think of “The Lord of the Rings,” if you dream of an elf, this often symbolizes the impish and playful part of the self that may be dormant. Maybe you’re too obsessed with your job, or maybe school has been stressful, and you’ve had no time for doing the things you love most in life. If this sounds like you, then it’s time to let out your inner elf and have some fun!

6. Platypus

A platypus is so much more than a freakin’ adorable fuzzy animal! If you see a platypus in your dream, it can symbolize a need for maintaining your most defining, inner qualities. Meaning, maintain your uniqueness! Seeing a platypus in the dreamscape means you might be worried about what other people think of you. Don’t let those negative opinions dictate how you choose to live your life! So, be weird, be different, be you!

7. Elbows

This isn’t just a weird body part with absolutely no meaning! If you see an elbow in your dream, especially if it is your own, this indicates that you need to make space for yourself. Alternatively, if you see someone else’s elbow in the dreamscape, it might mean that you need support in your life right now. Maybe you are going through a tough time and need someone to lean on? Think about the context in which you see the elbow, and who it belongs to!

8. Blacksmith

Another odd one, a blacksmith usually symbolizes power, strength, and masculinity. If you see the blacksmith working with metals, this can also mean that you are forging a strong, new bond with someone in your life. Additionally, if you are the blacksmith in your dream, this can mean that you will be successful in the career you are currently pursuing, due to your determination and skills.

9. Umbilical Cord

While you might be internally shuddering at the thought of this, an umbilical cord is actually a very symbolic dream! And, it can mean so many different things! For example, it might symbolize a silver cord connecting your body to your spirit. Or, it might represent your nurturing side. Perhaps you have a kid on the way, or you just fostered a new puppy! Lastly, it can mean you are dependent on a specific person or belief system.

10. Zombie

I am so sorry if you dream about zombies, it can be absolutely terrifying! If you dream you are being chased by a zombie, it probably means there is something in real life that scares you, and you keep avoiding it. Now, it doesn’t have to be something as serious as a zombie apocalypse, but maybe you are nervous about an upcoming test, or don’t want to break things off with your significant other because you are afraid of how they will react. If this sounds like you, it’s time to stand up to your real-life zombie!

But, if you dream that you are a zombie, it might mean that you are no longer in touch with your emotions or feelings. Again, it’s time to take a good, long look in the mirror and be honest with yourself.

Or, you might have just binge-watched an entire season of “The Walking Dead.”
