Board games and card games are a favorite pastime for many of us. We often play games with our friends and family, and it gives us the ability to connect face to face as opposed to a video game or computer game. Recently more games have been released under various categories that both include current events and technology. No matter the type of board game you like, I got you covered! Other games are simply fun for adults with little twists you will appreciate. Check out these ten unique board games and card games you should try.
If you like Disney and strategic board games, you will love this game! There are several expansions to the series. I purchased this game a couple years ago, and every time a new expansion was released, I purchased it. The game is a great strategy game that allows you to take down your opponent whilst simultaneously working on your goal to win the game. You each pick a villain, and they each have their own small board that you play on. While you are working on completing the goal and winning for your villain, you can also lay cards down that will affect your opponent or hinder your opponent from reaching the goal first. I love the various themes for the characters and how each is different and curated to that villain character. It is a lot of fun to work on your own game board while taking down your opponents in a race to the finish of each of your game boards. What is fun about the game is that if you think critically and a few steps ahead of your opponent, you can strategize how to take them down or slow them down in completing their tasks. You can purchase the game and the expansions at Target, Amazon, and ToysRUs Canada.
If you are a unicorn lover, you will love this game. It is much like the Disney Villainous game, where you focus on your individual task and play cards to hinder your opponent from progressing or winning the game. Your goal is to fill up your stable with unicorns. There are action cards and specific rules for playing the cards when it is your turn. You can develop a strategy of which card to place and when to stop your opponent and help you move closer to your end goal. I love the Unstable Unicorns because the cards are for adults, several expansions, and NSFW expansions. Many of them are hilarious, and some are raunchy, but overall, the card game will make you laugh and enjoy trying to outdo your opponent. Be sure to check out this fun and card game at your local Target, Amazon.com, or unstablegames.com.
Here to Slay is another UnstableGames strategy card game. In this game, you play as other characters that are common to role play. This is a strategic role-playing card game. You assemble a group of heroes and take down monsters while hitting your opponents as well. There are expansion packs for this game similar to Unstable Unicorns. If you are not into the unicorn theme, you will love the roleplaying characters and the design of the boards as it follows many role-playing themes and elements. Purchase this game at Target or the UnstableGames website.
There are many monopoly gamer games on the market. I collect monopoly board games and have a huge collection. I have everything from Sailormoon to Sonic the Hedgehog to a couple different Mario Kart games. There is currently a new Animal Crossing monopoly that everyone is snatching up as well. I like the Monopoly gamers because they all follow a similar structure but have abundant characters to choose from. The regular Monopoly gamer Mario theme has extra characters you can purchase to add to your game, and each character has a special powerup. The Monopoly board games are huge, and there is literally a Monopoly game for everything out there now! However, the Mario gamer remains a favorite of mine simply because they have so many additional characters you can buy for the game! I purchased my game from Walmart, but they are available on most internet retailer sites like Amazon. If you love Mario and you are looking for a twist on Monopoly, you will love this one!
Talisman has been around for a while since 1983, to be exact. A new version featuring Kingdom Hearts is a great way to embody a classic board game married with a fun video game version. If you like Dungeons and Dragons or anything fantasy theme, you will like this game. It is a magical quest game that allows two to six players to embark on a fantasy quest. As it takes on the Kingdom Hearts characters such as Sora and gives them special abilities. There are cards and Dice that you use to complete your quests and adventures. You can choose from various Disney Kingdom Hearts characters that you know and love from the beloved gaming franchise. There are familiar regions to venture through, such as Traverse Town and Never Land. Munny-themed currency and Gummi paths are also part of the game and add to the Kingdom Hearts theme that fans will appreciate.
If you love Uno, you will like the two additional games created based on the classic card game. Dos is a twist on Uno, and Flip is Uno that has options to flip the cards and play with different colors on the reverse side of the cards. Dos is all about, you guessed it, the number 2. There are wild Dos cards, and instead of playing a card that matches a color or number like regular Uno, you can play two cards that equal the number placed down. The player that reaches 200 points first wins. Both games are a great and fun twist to a game we all know and love. Pick up all three versions of the game from Amazon.com or pick up the games individually from Target.com.
