10 Things You Should Avoid Doing In Boulder, Colorado

There are many unwritten rules that many people do not know when visiting towns like Boulder. That is why we are here to show you the top 10 things that you must avoid doing in Boulder, Colorado.

1. Don’t Block Eachother

Boulder is home to many pedestrians and bikers. Since this special town is smaller in size compared to other major towns in the United States, many get around without the help of the car. In other words, instead of major streets, you will see many trails that are dominated by bikers and pedestrians. It is a more efficient, affordable, and environmentally friendly way to get around town. What you should most definitely avoid doing in Boulder is blocking each other from getting to your destination. So, make sure to share the road with your fellow bikers and walkers and remember to stay in your lane!

2. Don’t Hog The Table

Say you enter a coffee shop that is crowded and snag the last open table, do not be surprised if someone politely asks and takes a seat next to you. Boulder locals are recognized to be very nice and most of the time they expect you to return that courteous behavior. In most public spaces you will see strangers chatting with each other while sharing a space because it is the perfect way to easily make friends. So, the next time you are seated with open seats around you and see someone who is struggling, offer them a seat! But always make sure to put your safety first!

3. Don’t Overstay Your Welcome

This is a good general rule when in a public space, but it is especially important in a small town such as Boulder. Boulder is home to 106,000 people who all reap the benefit of this town with limited space. That is why, when you enter a public space the seating area will have a sign that specifies the amount of time you are allowed to spend at that table. Please be courteous and either leave and choose another table or offer to share a table if the area you are in is crowded. Just make sure to give others a chance to seat themselves!

4. Don’t Leave Without Sunscreen

Since Boulder is higher in elevation compared to other towns, that means the rays of the sun are always going to be stronger. During the summer you must not forget to wear sunscreen because the sun during this time is extremely strong and can burn your skin! Even if you visit Boulder during the colder months you will find yourself with a tan on your face if you do not utilize some form of SPF. Do not let the fact of mountains fool you because the sun might be stronger than the sun you experience on the beach. Do your skin a favor and cover-up!

5. Don’t Dress Too Fancy

Boulder is home to those who enjoy nature and outdoor activities. In general, this town harbors many active people who are constantly engaging in physical activity. That is why we recommend you to not always dress in clothes that will restrict you from having fun while staying active. In fact, someone might invite you to an event where you will not find the time to change in the right set of clothes. We would not want you to waste time going back home to get into those right set of clothes. So throw on something you feel comfortable and stylish in!

6. Don’t Depend On A Car

As mentioned before, many Boulderites enjoy getting around by modes of transportation that do not involve the car. It is usually hard to find parking and in general, is considered to be bad for the environment. We recommend that you leave your car parked at your house and get around by a bike or by foot. Even if you are not a big fan of getting around like so, you will definitely enjoy this way more because you will be surrounded by the beautiful scenery. You would have missed all of this beauty if you went by car!
