Not sure what types of things in your bag you should have besides your phone and wallet? We got some useful items that will come in handy while you’re on the go!
Never underestimate the power of a good chapstick. You never know when you will be going out after class or have a meeting where you need chapstick. There is nothing worse than the feeling of chapped lips and you have nothing you can do. I leave chapstick around in all my bags and room because they are easy to lose hold of. My favorite chapsticks to use are Blistex and Vaseline, because they are most effective for my lips. Whatever works best for you, make sure to have backups of. This is something everyone needs in their bag.
As someone with oily skin, face powder is necessary. Especially if you are someone who is out for most of the day, you want something to touch up your face with. If you wear makeup a lot like me, you don’t always have time to fix it before going out later in the day, so having some powder in your bag can save you from being a shiny mess. You can also bring blotting sheets instead if you want something easier to carry around.
Gum is a thing in your bag you need, especially in emergency situations. You never know when you will be meeting someone new you want to impress. I also get coffee often, so I like having gum if I’m going to class or out with a friend after. Gum is also nice to have if you are stressed or want to focus on homework. There are a lot of places to get gum and it’s cheap, so it is easy to throw in your bag.
Having something to write with in your bag is something you should always have. You never know if in class or out running errands you will need to write something down. If you need to sign something or need to keep track of what you need to get, having a pen will save you a lot of time. Professors also sometimes ask you to write things down during class, so having a notebook as well can be useful.
Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate! Having a reusable water bottle is one of the necessary things in your bag for on the go. Especially if you are a college student, you don’t want to waste your money on a plastic water bottle because you didn’t bring any. If you are walking around a lot or in class for a long time, you want to have some water with you. Having a Brita in your room will make this super easy for you and you will always have water. Having water with you encourages you to hydrate more and stay healthy!
Who doesn’t want to smell good? Having some perfume with you, even if it’s travel size, will keep you fresh and smelling amazing all day long. That way if your perfume starts to wear off before going to dinner, you don’t have to stress about it. There are so many options to choose from, such as more sweet or fruity scents, but I would choose carrying around one of your favorites so you always have it with you. I always feel more confident knowing I smell good and have my own scent I usually wear.
You never know when you are going to need a tissue. Especially during the colder months, you don’t want to be walking around with a stuffy nose. They are also useful things in your bag to have when you don’t have any paper towels with you and there is a spill. You can also wipe off makeup off your hands easily. They are cheap and easy to get, so it is worth getting a few you can carry in your bag. Your friends will be grateful you have them too when they start sneezing and don’t know what to do.
If you walk outside with your friends a lot, this is something that will change your life. There is nothing worse than trying to take a photo or send a text while out with your friends, and seeing that 20 percent warning. Having a portable battery with you, you won’t have to rush to find an outlet or use a friend’s phone. Make sure to have the portable battery charged before leaving the house though, because then you will have two things to charge. A lot of people don’t bring these with them, so it will come in handy when all your phones are on low battery and no one can call an Uber.
Especially these last few years, having hand sanitizer has become more and more one of the important things in your bag. It is good to have when you are touching items in the store and are going to be getting food. It also makes you feel better if you accidentally spilled or got something on your hands. They are also just cute and smell good, there are so many different scents and colors to choose from. I like getting the seasonal ones as well to help me get into the holiday spirit. There are also cases if you want to clip it onto your bag, but I usually just throw them in on its own.
This is one of the things in your bag that you will need the most, deodorant. You never know when you will start sweating and need to freshen up. Especially when you are out in the sun all day, you don’t want to start smelling bad. I usually just carry my everyday deodorant, but there are also a lot of travel sizes and spray deodorants if you prefer carrying those around. Having multiple deodorants is always nice to have. You will feel much better about going out knowing you have it in your bag.
