10 Things I Would Change about St. Bonaventure University
If I could change these 10 things about St. Bonaventure University I would. Keep reading for what these 10 things would be.
1. The Food
As someone with an allergy, I would appreciate if the dining hall was more upfront with providing allergy information. Not only that, there are those who are vegetarian, vegan, or even gluten free who have other dietary needs. Also, I would encourage the Hickey Dining Hall to find more appealing food options so that food isn’t going to waste and the student body will be more content.
2. The Dorms
Many of the dorms haven’t recently been renovated, at least not compared to freshman dorms Robinson and Falconio. They are less appealing than the freshman dorms and I think that SBU should work on improving the upper class dorms too. Especially for when prospective students visit because it will make them more inclined to want to come here.

3. The Housing Process
Lottery scores are unfair, as they determine the order that all students can choose where they want to live. The process of students selecting dorms should solely be based on your academics, your extracurricular involvement, and judicial factors. I don’t think that random numbers should play a part because then someone who’s very involved and has good grades gets a high number and ruins their score and a slacker gets lucky and has a good score.
4. The Core Courses
SBU is a Franciscan university, so naturally, there are religiously based required courses. I feel this detracts prospective students because they don’t want to be forced into taking religious courses. I think that the university should work towards making them more interesting and less tedious. They should still be religious based, but ensure more alternative options for those who don’t want to take those exact courses.

5. The Academic Buildings
Some of the older academic buildings remind me of high school buildings and classrooms and for me, that is a turn off. I think the school should go and renovate them to make them less outdated, one building at a time. It would definitely spruce up the school and increase the appeal.
6. The Security
My main problem I have with security are the fines they give out for supercilious things. For one, fining students for getting locked out of their rooms is ridiculous. Also, when you get locked out of your room, they sometimes take forever to show up and open up the rooms for students. It’s unreasonable for freshmen when some of them live in the same building as security.

7. The Location
SBU is in the middle of nowhere, which many students don’t always appreciate, as there is not much to do off campus. While this isn’t exactly easy to do, I think the university should attempt to get some exciting things going on in the local are. This could increase morale of the school and keep students safe by providing safe things for students to do off campus.

8. The Parking
The parking situation for students is inconvenient and many students struggle to find parking spots. Also, as it gets colder, people don’t want to have to walk halfway across campus to get to their car because it defeats the purpose of having a car.

9. The Size of School
Since it’s a private school and expensive, the enrollment is very small. There are under 2,000 students on campus and some students came here because they enjoy the small atmosphere- but I would enjoy it if there were more students who enrolled.

10. The Price of the School
As a private school, it is more expensive, since it’s not a public state school. I think there would be more enrollment if the tuition was cheaper because as college becomes more expensive, people are looking to go to the cheapest schools they can with the best deals. While St. Bonaventure does give out a lot of financial aid and scholarships, so to a certain degree, they compensate for their high tuition.
