Thanksgiving is fast approaching and after all the Halloween candy is gone, we can look forward to that big Thanksgiving dinner. However, as we get caught up in the commercial aspects of the holidays, it’s important that we take a step back and remember what the real concept of Thanksgiving is about. Thankfulness. And as college students, we have A LOT to be thankful for.
In case you haven’t heard, college students now have the web! We have the luxury of not having to spend hours at the library, scanning through books. We can just search for something via Google, and have millions of results automatically pop up in front of us. Because this is all we’ve known, it’s easy to take the Internet for granted; but it truly is something we are all thankful for (whether we realize it or not).
These are so important. They keep us on track and contain valuable contact information. Many people that I spoke to said they wouldn’t be where they are in life without their planner!
College students should be thankful for their family, above everything else. Sure, they can bug the hell out of you at times, but when it comes down to it, your family will always be there for you.
If you’re not thankful for your financial aid, then you don’t deserve it. College is expensive, and for most people, they wouldn’t be in college without it. Scholarships, loans, grants…whatever help you received financially, be grateful.
I don’t think that this need explaining. Thank you espresso.
There are many different types of professors out there, but there are those select few who actually care about you and your success. These are the professors that take time to explain something to you when you don’t understand. The professors that are willing to work with you. The professors that truly care about your education. These professors deserve our thanks.
No matter where you go to school, you learn to appreciate the friends you make. Going away to college can be scary, especially when you don’t know anyone. When you finally do meet people that you click with, don’t take them for granted. True friendship is hard to come by, so appreciate it when you find it.
I know many people, including myself, think of their job as a hindrance because it can be tough balancing it with classes. But it is something you should be thankful – think of how many are struggling without one! You are making an effort to be able to support yourself and gaining crucial experience which may help you to get a job in the future.
Basically, for any good grade I’ve ever received, I would like to say, “thank you note cards.”
As college students, we have to remember to be thankful for the opportunity we’ve been given. This is something that the younger generation tends to overlook, but we have to try and consider how lucky we are to be getting an education that many others don’t have the chance to.
*And one extra one I would like to add: I am so thankful for all the people that helped me with this since I had such bad writer’s block, especially Leannepenny.com.
