Finals are officially over, which means it’s almost that time again…that’s right, summer time! Now that the weather is changing, yet again, we need to switch up our wardrobes to coincide with the warmer temps. So as you venture out to update your wardrobe, keep these 10 summer must haves in mind when perusing the merchandise – they are necessary for any fashionista!
One of the most important items for your summer must haves list are bralettes – they are the most comfortable thing to throw on under any outfit, especially on those extra hot days. I recently got one and love to pair it with loose V-necks and T-shirt dresses for a little peek-a-boo pop. I also plan on wearing it to some concerts, paired with denim cutoffs to achieve the “Coachella” look.
No summer outfit is complete without a pair of sunglasses. The hot trend this summer is modern aviators; the old school shape with a flashy lens. What’s great about this style is that they go with every outfit and look good on all face shapes!
It’s time for a pedi because gladiator sandals are definitely summer must haves this year! If you can’t get on board with this trend, don’t worry, there are lots of different sandals you can add to your outfit that will look just as stylish. I would recommend Birkenstocks or Tevas for something on the more comfy side. I love to where these whenever I go hiking, or just running some errands around town.
I love wearing crop tops in the summer, but I always pair them with some cute high-waisted shorts so I don’t have too much tummy out. This style was super popular last year, but it doesn’t seem to be leaving anytime soon. A pair of these in any color or material will keep your summer style on point.
This summer, dare to go bold with your bag or purse….or fanny pack. That’s right; fanny pack. I have one that I wear to parties and concerts – it’s the perfect option to store your items; you can dance the night away without having to worry about a purse flopping all around.
‘Tis the season to bare those shoulders ladies. One of the hottest summer must haves this year are off-the-shoulder shirt, rompers and dresses. Easily dressed up when paired with a tight mini skirt and chunky jewelry, or dressed down when paired with denim shorts and flat sandals – this versatile is essential to your closet.
My favorite part about the summer? Swimming! One of the trendiest styles for the summer are one pieces…nut not just any old one piece. Opt for one with interesting cutouts and unique necklines (like this plunging one – ooh la la).
Rompers are literally the best because once you slip it on, your outfit is complete. No need to worry about what top or bottoms to add to it; it’s all combined in one. This summer the new trend is rompers with a maxi overlay – a super cute addition to your typical jumpsuit. They’re perfect for lunch dates!
The 90s are back in full force this summer with choker-inspired products hitting the stores. Whether a crop top with a wrap around choker, a maxi dress with a silky neck wrap or even just a choker on it’s own – you NEED to have at least one of these summer must haves in your wardrobe!
I will be including lots of short and flowy dresses in my summer wardrobe because of how effortlessly chic they are (plus they are great for the heat). I still will wear maxi dresses for the cooler nights, but slip dresses are a great option during the day (you could always throw on a loose cardigan when the temps take a dip, too).
