Washington is not the first state most people talk about in the U.S. Many people know it from the famous Twilight series and its notoriety of constant rainy weather. However, it is a wonderful place to attend college for many different reasons, many of which might not have occurred to everyone. Read below for some reasons to go to college in Washington!
Students that are born and raised in Washington probably don’t appreciate the weather there as much as some out-of-state students do. Washington is known for having four seasons throughout the year. This not only makes for an aesthetically pleasing Instagram picture, but a nice change of scenery year round.
The state of Washington has some of the most gorgeous nature scenery in the country. From the greenery surrounding all aspects of the state to the forests and cascading mountain range, you will constantly find yourself surrounded by vast beauty. Mount Rainier is also one of the most picturesque mountains in the world. One can truly lose themselves in the nature in this state. (No pun intended.)
There is no greater feeling in the world than breathing in fresh air. Whether the air is salty from the beach or crisp from the trees, the state of Washington allows for both of these scenarios. Settled on the west coast, the state allows you to experience breathing in the freshest air which wafts off the ocean and throughout the lush forests and mountains.
Washington is a state where you have the choice of either going to school in the city (such as Seattle), or in a rural area, (such as Pullman). Although the University of Washington and Washington State University are rivals in every other sense, the students of each school are both proud to call their college home.
If you are an avid sports fan, especially football, you know that the Seahawks are one of the most well-known football teams in the country. Their twelfth man on the team represents their fans, and every Washingtonian knows this. If you go to school here, then you can become another twelfth man!
Many people may not know this, but the first Starbucks was created in Seattle, Washington. If you decide to study here you’ll have the bragging rights to live in the state that introduced the world to Starbucks Coffee.
Moving to Washington can enhance your general knowledge of the music world. Nirvana and Macklemore are just two of the many musicians who have originated from this state.
Going to a school in an area that offers ample stress-free environments is crucial. Washington has natural serenity just about everywhere. Perfect for studying or simply “you” time. Living here will make you appreciate nature and allow you to live in a stress-free environment during college (which is crucial to succeed).
There’s no other feeling that compares to being able to go out at night and see the stars clearly. Even if you live in a city, forests and national parks are just a short drive away. Viewing the constellations is one of the most beautiful qualities of this state.
People from the state of Washington are some of the kindest and most genuine people you will ever meet in the world. Of course there are infinite benefits of living in a place where the people are nice and down to earth, but it leads to lifelong friendships during college (which is especially important in particular).
