Arguably the best TV couple of all time, “The Office’s” Jim Halpert and Pam Beesly are true soup snakes (thank you for that phrase Michael). Over the course of nine seasons, we got to watch our favorite salesman and receptionist fall in love, get married, have kids, and lead passionate careers outside of the paper business. And, we got to hear the cutest Jim and Pam quotes that gave us all of the feels! Let’s be honest, we all cried from time to time, it was hard not to (that’s what she said).
The infamous Christmas Party episode tugged at our heartstrings as Pam opened up the teal teapot given to her from her Secret Santa (HINT: it was Jim)! Once the game Secret Santa turned into Yankee Swap, Pam traded the teapot for an iPod. Jim was appalled that his thoughtful gift, stuffed with inside jokes and goodies, was in the hands of Dwight (or should I say, in the nose of Dwight!). But shortly before the end of the party, Pam traded her iPod for the teapot, and all was right in the world.
For nine seasons we all wanted to know what was in the Christmas card Jim takes away from the teapot gift! Although Jim gives Pam the Christmans card way later in season nine, we still didn’t get to know the content of the card. But, if you’re still curious, go and listen to the “Office Ladies” podcast for the Christmas Party episode, and Jenna Fischer will explain it all!
Let me just tell you, Jim isn’t talking about Italian food! In the season four episode titled Money, Jim says this quote after having a deep conversation in the hallway with Dwight. Dwight doesn’t say much, he mainly sobs quietly (he’s still heartbroken over Angela), but Jim tells Dwight that he knows how it feels to lose a love. Jim reveals to Dwight that the reason he left Scranton was because of Pam, and when they weren’t together even food had no taste (seriously, where can I find a guy like this?)! After voicing his thoughts, Jim remembers how lucky he is to be with Pam, and he rushes over to kiss her.
Per Michael’s own logic, Pam should be the regional manager of Dunder Mifflin simply because she was the only one to do the coal walk (except for Dwight, but that was just embarrassing)! That being said, Pam had a lot more on her mind than work after willingly burning her feet. As soon as she crossed the coals, she marched over to Jim and confessed her feelings to him in front of the whole office, including Karen!
At first, it seemed like Jim didn’t know how to take the message, but at the end of the season-three finale, just one episode later, we find out that Jim gives up the corporate position to ask Pam on a date. I will be the first to admit I needed several tissues when Pam says, “I’m sorry, what was the question?”
Ripped veil, check. Severed tie, check. Invited Michael Scott, check. All that’s left is an embarrassing dance number right smack in the middle (and down the aisle) of your wedding ceremony and BOOM, you’ve got yourself a catastrophe waiting to happen!
In spite of everything that went wrong, Jim and Pam still managed to pull off one of the most romantic weddings ever! Just when we started drying our tears from watching the boat ceremony/”Forever” montage, Jim punches us in the gut with this famous quote. Yes, we were all sobbing, too.
In season two, Jim makes Pam his famous grilled cheese sandwich, and they eat dinner on the roof together. Pam makes a comment that she can’t even remember the last time someone cooked for her, and Jim smiles sweetly to himself. Flashforward to this cute quote two seasons later, and we’re back on the roof, only this time, Jim and Pam are dating! The two started reminiscing about their years of flirting, and upgraded their impromptu grilled cheese sandwiches for “a medium amount of good pizza!”
How Jim knew her yogurt was about to expire, the world may never know.
Jim actually tells this heartfelt quote to Dwight, when Dwight is unsure about his future because he still wants to be with Angela. Similar to Dwight’s situation, Jim says that sometimes, you have to throw out the manual and just go after what you want. If you fall, then you fall, but at least you gave it everything you had. This quote bodes well for Jim and Pam, as their relationship had been on the rocks due to Jim wanting to pursue Athlead (or is it Athleap?!).
Pam brought us to tears when she said this famous quote in the season five episode Stress Relief. Apparently, Pam’s parents were going through a rough patch, and after speaking to Jim, Pam’s father decided to end things with Pam’s mother. Pam, reasonably worried, wondered what Jim had said, and if at some point, Jim would say the same thing to her. She finds out that Jim told her father how much he loves Pam. Jim talked about how he feels when Pam walks into a room, and how he never doubted his love for her.
Pam knew right then and there, they were soulmates.
Season nine was SCARY for Jam (Jim and Pam) fans. There were times (I’m looking at you, Brian) when we seriously worried for these two. Jim was becoming distant and work-obsessed with his new company Athlead, while Pam held down the fort in Scranton, juggling her job and the kids alone. We saw Pam get close to the boom operator and even break down in front of him.
But still, we fans persevered, our faith in the greatest love story of our modern time never wavering.
And sure enough, in the season nine episode A.A.R.M, Jim put our worries to rest and made Pam perhaps the most romantic gesture ever! After watching the video montage the doc crew put together of Jim and Pam’s relationship, Jim told Pam that she was everything to him.
In the final episode at the reunion, Pam is questioned by a fan and asked how it felt to find her soulmate. Pam responded with this sweet quote. Yes Pam, we never wanted “The Office” to end, too!
In a toast to Pam at their rehearsal dinner, Jim says the most romantic quote of the series! The moment was short-lived, however, because right after, Jim reveals to everyone that Pam is pregnant.
That’s Ok Jim, we forgive you, but Meemaw probably doesn’t!
