10 iPhone Hacks That Make Your Phone Last Longer

iPhone hacks that make your phone last longer are pretty common, but they are kind of confusing to understand. Do I want to have my ringer on, or do I want to have the vibration turned on? This article is to help you figure out the best ways to conserve your battery power on your phone.

1. Power Hungry Apps

Some apps require more power than other apps. If you don’t use those apps as much, turn them off. You might not even need those apps on your phone to begin with. You can also turn off the notifications for apps you use the least, which will help you save some of the battery power on your phone. You can also disable the app refresh function, which continues running in the background to keep your apps up to date. This isn’t necessary for your phone to work, so turning it off could keep your phone running a little longer.

2. Low Power Mode

Low power mode allows your phone to still work, but you won’t get the notifications of most apps and Siri won’t work. It saves the battery power of your phone, though, so it will be useful when your battery is under fifty percent. It won’t work forever, it’s only designed to help you until you can find a place to charge your phone. You can find it in Settings > Battery > Low Power Mode. You could also still keep this on if the battery is almost full, but it would still be an issue if you rely on notifications when you use certain apps.

3. Location Services

It is useful for some apps to know where you are at all times, but some apps don’t need to know. This wastes battery power that you might need for something else, so it would be really useful if you could turn it off. There are two ways to turn this off. You could completely turn this off for all of the apps or you could turn this off for each app individually. This is probably the ideal way to go because some apps, like maps, would require you to have location turned on. You can go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services to disable this function.

4. Brightness

You can save the battery power of your phone by turning down the brightness. It takes a lot of power to keep the screen bright, so keeping the screen dark can save you valuable battery. You can also disable the auto brightness of your screen to keep the screen dark even when it’s bright out. It can be useful to sometimes have the screen bright, but make sure to turn it down when you don’t need it anymore. You don’t realize how much battery you use keeping the screen bright, so if you don’t need the screen bright, make sure you turn it down.

5. Bluetooth

The Bluetooth function of your phone can also use up a lot of your battery without you even realizing it. It’s not something that is used a lot because we don’t normally think of it, but chances are it’s turned on. This is easy to turn off, though. All you have to do is swipe up from the bottom of the screen and click on the button that looks like a zigzag shape. If it’s lit up blue, it’s on. Just click on it again and it will turn off. You’ll save a lot of your battery power if you turn the Bluetooth off because it’s always running in the background.

6. Airplane Mode

You can turn on Airplane mode, if you really want to disable almost everything your phone can do. You will get no notifications, you won’t be able to use the Wi-Fi, and you definitely won’t be able to use the Siri function. Basically the only thing you can use when your phone is in Airplane mode would be the clock app. It would still be useful if you’re in an area that doesn’t have cell phone service anyway, that way you won’t be wasting battery power on things you can’t do. It would be easier just to turn on Airplane mode than try to find service.

7. Wi-Fi

iPhones can connect to Wi-Fi, so why not use it? Instead of using your cell service when you’re out somewhere, try to connect to the internet. It would save your battery and you might be able to do more with it. Cell service is good, but it takes up a lot of battery power trying to connect when the service is sometimes spotty. When there’s Wi-Fi somewhere, that usually works and will connect with your phone fairly well. Make sure to turn your cell service back on before you leave, or you might not be able to use your phone later.

8. Camera Flash

The camera flash uses a lot of your battery power, and it’s kind of annoying when it goes off while you’re taking a picture. Turning it off will save your phone’s battery and everyone’s around you eye sight. It is something you can easily forget is even on until you try to take a picture when it’s dark out and everyone complains that the light is blinding them. Some pictures might require you to turn on the flash, but just turn it back off after you take the picture, that way you aren’t losing battery power when you don’t really need it.

9. Grayscale

Grayscale is easier to look at and it helps to save power on your battery. This is a really good idea if you’re on your phone all the time. It can save your battery power and you can look at your phone in the middle of the night without hurting your eyes with the light. This can be turned on and off fairly easily, so if you decide you don’t like it, you can turn it off again. It can be found under Color Filters. You can also find different filters there, too, so if grayscale hurts your eyes, you can try one of the other filters that might help the battery and your eyes.

10. Vibration

Having vibration turned on drains the battery faster, so your best bet would be to turn off vibration all together. You can also just turn it off on silent mode, if you still like the vibration turned on. This is found under sounds on your phone. You can turn the vibration off completely here, or you can choose to keep part of it on. Either way know the vibration can kill the battery on your phone faster than having it on completely silent or on ringer would. But you can choose how you want your phone to go off without me influencing you.

There are other iPhone hacks that make your phone last longer out there on the internet, but I do not know them. So if you would like to share them with me, just leave a comment down below and I will be sure to try them out.
