10 Interview Outfits That Will Make A Great First Impression

Interviews can be nerve-wracking. Meeting new people, selling your skills and staying calm are common concerns. Your interview might be stressful, but finding the right outfit doesn’t have to be! The ideal interview outfit should be stylish, professional, and comfortable to wear. Here are ten interview outfits that are professional yet stylish, will boost your confidence, and help you to make a great first impression. These outfit ideas will work well for any kind of job interview and are classics that will never go out of style.

1.) Matching Sets

Matching sets are effortless, professional and very stylish. They can either be a blazer with matching slacks, or a matching blouse and skirt combo. They also come in lots of different colors and prints, so you can have fun discovering the right look for you, but choose a color scheme that won’t make the outfit seem too casual. The key to pulling off any matching set is just to make sure your outfit is well-fitted. Pants and skirts should be tight-fitting around your waist, and the top should fit nicely around your shoulders and bust. This outfit is sure to let people know you mean business.

2.) A Fancy Belt

Pencil skirts are a common interview outfit, but adding a statement belt to a pencil skirt is a great way to step-up this classic interview outfit to make a stylish impression. Try a black pencil skirt combined with a fancy blouse, then add an oversized belt with a gold buckle around your waist for a statement. For this outfit, the belt will be the focal point, so make sure it is centered and neatly placed. The gold will contrast against the black, and will make a bold yet refined statement. Complete this look with black pumps and a simple black bag.

3.) Detailed Blouse With Slacks

Swap out a plain white blouse for a statement button-up blouse. Bold colors, stripes or pastels will add some contrast, and will help loosen up the stiff-nature of interview outfits, but will still maintain professionalism.

4.) Statement Dress

A statement dress will help do all the outfit-work for you. Although it’s important to make sure your interview attire is conservative and professional, it doesn’t mean you should be afraid of adding color to your outfit. Since a bold color will speak for itself, the secret to making a statement dress work for an interview is to make sure the cut is modest and polished; avoid low-cuts and revealing necklines, and instead choose one that covers enough appropriately but it still flattering to your form. Heels or flats will go nicely with this outfit.

A basic flowing midi-skirt is great for job interviews in the summer, or interviews for entrance into creative and artistic fields. They are not as restrictive as pencil skirts and will add a touch of femininity to your outfit. Dress it up with textured black tights to keep it more conservative. Textured tights will provide more interest than plain tights, and there’s lot of possible options to choose from. Just make sure that it stays business-appropriate. Complete the look by adding a pair of black heels for a timeless and elegant look.

Glam up the traditional blazer by investing in a patterned blazer. A checkered blazer would be a safe and stylish choice to wear for an interview, and will add some interest and charm to your look.
