10 Delicious at Home Desserts
A lot of people have made this misconception that to have that perfect dessert, it can only be bought from the most expensive bakery. Whether it’s a sheet cake, fondue, or a chocolate fountain, these desserts are easy to make and do not take that much time. Here are the tastiest and easiest home desserts that are fun to make.
1. Cinnamon Rolls
Nothing is better than waking up on a Christmas morning to the warm fresh scent of Cinnamon rolls and a nice hot cup of hot chocolate. Turns out, this vibe recipe is not difficult at all to make.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 oz package yeast
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1 cup divided sugar
- 1/2 cup scalded milk
- 1/3 cup of melted butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 3/4 cup of walnuts
- 1/2 cup plus 4 tablespoons divided, 1/2 cup melted
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 to 6 tablespoons hot water
Steps:
In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside. In a large bowl mix milk, 1/4 cup sugar, 1/3 cup melted butter or shortening, salt, and the egg. Add two cups of flour and mix until smooth. Add yeast mixture. Mix in remaining flour until dough is easy to handle. Beat the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5 to 10 minutes. Place in a well-greased bowl and let rise until doubled, usually 1 to 1 1/2 hours. When doubled, punch down dough. Spread out on flour surface into a rectangle then spread melted butter all over the dough. Mix 3/4 cup sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over buttered dough. Sprinkle with walnuts, pecans, or raisins if desired. Beginning at 15-inch side roll up the dough and pinch edge together to seal. Cut into 12 to 15 slices. Spread the bottom of the baking pan with butter and sprinkle with light sugar. Place cinnamon roll slices close together in the pan and let rise until dough is doubled, about 45 minutes. Bake at 350 °Fahrenheit for about 25 to 30 minutes or until nicely browned. Meanwhile, mix 4 tablespoons of butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Add hot water 1 tablespoon at a time until the glaze reaches desired consistency. Spread over slightly cooled rolls.
2. Chocolate Chip Cookies
As kids, we loved the taste of warm chocolate chip cookies, but we could never figure out how to make them when the recipe is quite easy actually.
Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup 2 sticks butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups of Sweet Chocolate Chips
Steps: Preheat oven to 375° Fahrenheit. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt, in a small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract in a large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
3. Banana Pudding
If you want to talk sweets, Banana pudding is a multi-layer of deliciousness. I know that it may come across as intimating to make by its appearance, but the process is quite simple.
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups 2% milk
- 3 large eggs
- 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 60 8 ounces vanilla wafers
- 4 large ripe bananas, cut into 1/4-inch slices
Steps: In a large mixing bowl, beat the pudding mix and milk for 2 minutes. Blend in condensed milk until smooth. Stir in vanilla and fold in whipped topping. Layer wafers, bananas, and pudding mixture in a glass serving bowl. Chill until serving.
4. Peach cobbler
Some of the best sweets are the ones that include other ingredients like fruit. Peach Cobbler is a dessert that offers the taste of a sweet treat with the delectable citrus flavors of fruit.
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups self-rising flour
- 1 stick butter
- ½ cup water
- 2 cups sugar, divided
- 4 cups peaches, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup milk
- ground cinnamon
Steps: Preheat oven to 350 °Fahrenheit. Mix the peaches, 1 cup sugar, and water in a saucepan and mix well. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and place the butter in a 3-quart baking dish and place in the oven to melt. Mix remaining 1 cup sugar, flour, and milk slowly to prevent clumping. Pour mixture over melted butter and place fruit on top, gently pouring in syrup. Sprinkle top with ground cinnamon, if using. The batter will begin to rise to the top during baking. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes. Finally, scoop onto a plate and serve with your choice of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream to serve.
5. Pumpkin Pie
Pumpkin Pie is probably the most essential dessert for every Fall and thanksgiving get-together. Here is what you will need to make it.
Ingredient:
- Pastry for 9-inch pie crust
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons Pumpkin Spice
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 can 15 ounces pumpkin
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1 can 12 ounces evaporated milk
Steps: Preheat oven to 425°Farenheit and place the 9-inch pie plate in with pie crust. Mix eggs, brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice, flour and, salt in a medium bowl until smooth. Stir in pumpkin and vanilla. Gradually add evaporated milk, mixing well. Pour into pie crust. Bake 15 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350°F. Bake 40 minutes longer or until the knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Serve warm or cold. Garnish with whipped cream and sprinkle with additional pumpkin pie spice, if desired. Store covered in the refrigerator and enjoy for later!
6. Oreo Style Cheesecake
I can’t think of any other better idea than mixing two of my favorite sweets creating the best at-home dessert. Oreo-style Cheesecake would have to be the best creation to come to my mind.
Ingredients:
- Large bag of Oreo cookies, crushed in a blender
- 1⁄4 cup melted butter
- 24 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 1/4 ounces of can sweet milk
- 3 eggs
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla
Steps: Mix Oreos and butter together. Press them down in a greased 9inch springform pan. In a large bowl, cream together the remaining ingredients until well blended. Pour into the spring-form pan. Break up 8 Oreos and drop them on top of the batter. Bake for 45-60 minutes at 300 Degrees Fahrenheit. Don’t bake till it cracks. Cool to room temperature and chill in the refrigerator before removing the pan.
7. Chocolate fudge Brownies
I am a diehard cholate person, and when I have the opportunity to make Chocolate Fudge Brownies, I take it by following this simple process.
Ingredients:
- 2 Large Eggs
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1tsp Baking powder
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp Sea salt
- 2 tsp Vanilla
- 1/4 oil
- 1tsp instant coffee
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
Steps: Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, grease, and flour an 8-inch square pan. In a large saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter. Remove from heat, and stir in sugar, eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat in 1/3 cup cocoa, 1/2 cup flour, salt, and baking powder. Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes. For the frosting, add 3 tablespoons softened butter, 3 tablespoons cocoa, honey, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1 cup confectioners’ sugar. Stir until smooth. Frost brownies while they are still warm and now you have some mouth water chocolate brownies.
8. Red Velvet Cake
Red Velvet Cake is not only known for its ravishing but will always be a dessert classic.
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2cups sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened baking cocoa
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2cups vegetable oil
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 bottle 1 oz red food coloring
- 2 eggs
- 1/2cup Gold Medal all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2cups milk
- 1 1/2cups sugar
- 1 1/2cups butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
Steps: Heat oven to 350°Ferinheit. In a large bowl, beat all cake ingredients with an electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds, scraping the bowl constantly. Beat 2 minutes on medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour into pans. Bake 25 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 1 hour. In a medium saucepan, mix 1/2 cup flour and 1 1/2 cups milk with whisk until smooth. Cook over medium heat until the mixture is very thick, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; cool 10 minutes. In a large bowl, beat 1 1/2 cups sugar and the butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Gradually add the flour mixture by tablespoonfuls then beat on high speed until smooth. Beat in vanilla. Fill and frost cake, using 1 cup frosting between layers.
9. Watermelon Smoothie
Just because summer is over doesn’t mean that the vibes have to leave as well. Not only is a watermelon smoothie refreshing, but it is simple and fun to make.
Ingredients:
- 1 ripe Banana
- 3/4 cup strawberries
- 1/1 cup of unsweetened coconut milk
- 2 teaspoons of sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon of salt
Steps: Arrange chopped watermelon evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze until strawberries are completely frozen. Cut banana in half crosswise and place the frozen watermelon, peeled banana half, strawberries, yogurt, honey, and salt in a blender. Process until completely smooth and creamy, about 1 minute, stopping to scrape down sides as needed. Divide between 2 glasses and enjoy your summer vibes whenever you feel like it.
10. Fruit Yogurt Parfait
A fruit Yogurt Parfait is soo sweet and easy to make, it is almost impossible to not get right.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of nonfat vanilla yogurt
- 1 cup granola
- 1 club blueberries
- 1 banana
Steps: In a large mixing glass, layer 1 cup of nonfat vanilla yogurt, 1/2 cup granola, and 4 blackberries and repeat this process.
