Living in the city means having endless opportunities for fun outings and late night adventures with your “bae”. However, not everything to do in the city is affordable. Keep reading for ten cute date ideas to do around Georgia State that won’t break the bank, but still allow you to enjoy the life and lights of the city.

1. Have a picnic in a local park.

The opportunities are endless with this one. Both Centennial Olympic Park and Piedmont Park are within walking or driving distance from campus. Centennial Olympic Park is always a favorite spot. Plus if you’re feeling a little lazy on the picnic part, you can always pop into the CNN center and grab something from their food court!

2. Visit the High Museum.

Feeling artsy? The High Museum is the perfect place for a relaxing, quiet day. The High Museum offers discount tickets for students with a valid student ID. There’s also a great little coffee shop across the street, so you can get your caffeine fix in after taking it all in.

3. Take a bike ride along the beltline.

The Student Recreation Center offers a great program called Touch the Earth which allows students to rent equipment for low prices. You can rent a bike for FREE for one day! (Just keep in mind that these rentals are only available to current, fee paying students at GSU!)

4. Go to a Braves game.

This is one of my favorites. The Braves have called Atlanta home for so many years, but this is their last year at the TED before they move to Suntrust Park in Cobb County – it’s okay to cry. Braves tickets are as low as $1! That means for $2 you and bae can get your chop on at the TED – what a deal!

5. Play the “penny game.”

This one is so fun and so simple (but it requires a car). Get in the car and pick any starting point – just make sure you have a penny (or any coin) with you. Drive as long as you please and when you come to an intersection, flip the coin. Heads, you turn right; tails, you turn left. It’s always fun to get a little lost in the city and see and discover new places you’ve never seen before.

6. Go to the Aquarium.

Another great one. Plus, the student center offers discounted tickets year round! You can go online and get tickets for you and your special someone.

7. Museum hop on a hot day.

There are plenty of fun museums to see in Atlanta. Do a little research and plan which museums you and your partner are most interested in and go. This is perfect for when it’s just too darn hot (or too cold) to do anything outside.

8. Go to Ponce City Market.

Ponce City Market just opened a rooftop area with fun rides and arcade games. There’s endless entertainment up there, and you get a pretty sweet view of the city! But if all else fails, it’s a great little place to wander around and shop. Make sure to grab a bite to eat at one of the local places while you’re there!

9. Eat ice cream at Jeni’s.

Best. Ice cream. Ever. It’s perfect for everyone. Their flavors are so unique and almost all of them are gluten-free! Make sure to try the lavender if you go – it’s my favorite.

10. Have a game night at Game-X!

Everyone loves to be a little kid again! Game-X has endless fun and food for you and your partner to enjoy! You can go and eat, drink, and play arcade games until the little kid inside of you is bursting with joy!
