1. The Rose Garden in Thornden Park
Girls like a lot of things: makeup, clothes, pizza…but nothing touches their hearts more than roses! Take your date to the Rose Garden and trust me, you won’t regret it. This site is so colorful and beautiful. Just make sure that the roses have bloomed and you don’t go at night…it is not the safest place to be at late hours. But definitely go during the day to see all the amazing colors. You can even bring a blanket and some food and call it a picnic. Plus, it’s basically right on campus, so it is just a walk away.
2. Syracuse Stage
If your date loves plays or movies, this is definitely one spot you should check out! The Syracuse Stage has performed many classics such as “Peter Pan”, “To Kill a Mockingbird”, “Baskerville: a Sherlock Holmes Mystery” and many more! I personally went to one show and completely loved it. Their acting was amazing and I would definitely go there again. Plus, the tickets are not very expensive; it usually ranges from $20 to no more than $50. But when you’re thinking of cute ideas for a date, who looks at prices anyways, right boys?
3. Rosamond Gifford Zoo
If your date is an animal lover, this is a great spot to try. Although it is smaller than most zoos, it is still a lot of fun. They also have a lot of events that go on like “ The Brew at the Zoo” event. This is a great event to go to if you’re 21 and up. The tickets are $50 each; however, it does come with unlimited beer, wine, and food. There are a ton of breweries at the event and beer stations all throughout the zoo. That’s definitely an event that you would want to check out with your date.
4. Faegans Café
This place is a cute, small restaurant that is right across from Marshall Street. It has a small patio outside where you can sit, eat your food, and enjoy the outdoor atmosphere. It does have some nightlife around 9PM and after, so I would suggest taking someone here for a lunch date rather than for dinner. Their menu is also reasonably priced for great food!
5. WonderWorks
WonderWorks is one the most fun places to go. I went to the one in Orlando and it was a blast! When you enter the building, everything is upside down. Inside the building, there are more than 100 hands on exhibits that you can participate in. There are several different “Wonder Zones” that each have their own theme and type of experience. There is also a Lazer-Tag Arena and Sky Tykes Ropes Course if you want to get physical! It is on the 3rd level of the Destiny USA mall.
6. Funny Bone Comedy Club
If you’re in the mood for some entertainment, this is the place to go! The Funny Bone is a national comedy club that has showcased first-rate comedians throughout its 30-plus year existence, including such superstars as Jerry Seinfeld, Tim Allen, Kathleen Madigan, Ellen DeGeneres and Dave Chappelle. The Funny Bone also provides great rising comedians, as well as developing local talent. If you want to get your girl to laugh and have a good time, take her here! This is also a restaurant, so you can order food before or during the show and dine while you laugh. It also it has a bar, so most shows you do have to be 21 unless it is specified as an 18 and over show. This place is also located in the Destiny USA mall.
7. Tully’s Restaurant
This is a great restaurant to go to with your man, especially if he loves sports! It has over 30 TVs all around the restaurant showing all different kinds of sports. Plus, they’re known for having the best chicken tenders on earth! It also has a bar if you want to have some extra fun. It’s definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Syracuse, definitely a great spot for a dinner date.
8. Canyon Climb- Ropes Challenge Course
Now, if both of you are the athletic types and just want to get into some physical excitement, this is definitely the spot to go. This is actually in the Destiny USA mall and is located towards the middle half of the mall all the way towards the ceiling! It stands 70 feet tall; you are able to explore 3 levels of ropes and encounter 81 different obstacles. If you or your date is afraid of heights, then I wouldn’t try this. But, it’ s definitely a place to check out for a date idea!
9. SpaZend Day Spa
Ok, this is an idea that I know every Syracuse girl would love…so boys, listen up! Take your date to SpaZend. They do have couple packages so that you two can enjoy each other and the atmosphere together. Now, it is a little pricey, but according to the review, it’s worth every penny! But it doesn’t hurt to spend a little money on your women, right?
10. Dave & Busters
This place is basically a Chuck E. Cheese for grown ups. They have great “American” food and a bunch of fun games you can play. They also have great wings and a wide range of prizes that you can win. It stays open late, so the fun doesn’t stop! This one is located in the Destiny USA mall as well.
