Since the beginning of television, there have always been those few certain shows that we loved growing up from comedy, romance, and action. Here are ten of the best television shows to have ever aired on television.
Even if you are not a fan of most Japanese anime television shows, Naruto has been a television movement for the last 23 years. Even though this show was created in Japan, as soon as it came over to America, it became a huge success being a show that focuses on straight action and drama. This story talks about a young boy who is shunned by his village for harboring a demon inside his body, but through strong will and perseverance, this young boy is determined to make a name for himself. If anything, this show might as well be considered a hall of fame when it comes to anime television series. But what makes this series more of a movement rather than a show is that most of the themes in this show are based on real Japanese culture aspects, and a lot of celebrities endorse this show from Michael B Jordan and Megan Thee Stallion. So when people say anime is for kids, show them Naruto and that will change their minds “Believe it”!
For 16 years, the big question has been circulating throughout social media, is Avatar the Last Airbender an anime? As difficult as this question may be, we know one thing, this series was the greatest idea to hit the kid’s television network. This series hit the television network in 2005 and the popularity of the show comes from its comedy, action, and is based on the Asian cultural background where this little young monk must fulfill his destiny to master all the elements, defeat the fire lord and bring balance to the world. When I look at this show as an adult, the idea shows us how the world can be divided by different races where some feel as if they are superior to the others while mentioning things like war, genocide, and its martial arts background. This show is a great way to teach kids about world culture while knowing how the other parts of the world view us differently.
From wild crazy fighting, constant bickering and proving who is the best, Drake and Josh was that show that defined all kids at the time. Drake and Josh were set on being that show where we as kids live those actual sceneries where it can be soo difficult having a sibling. Think about it, you got Drake the cool Rockstar who can woo any girl with little effort while you Josh who is this loud hyper obnoxious dorky kid. When you put them together, you get the funniest brother duo that shows us as kids that we will have days where we just can’t stand each other, but at the end of the day, your brother will always love you no matter what. On that note, I say “Hug me Brotha”!
There was just something about that 90s style television era. When it came to keeping it real with comedy, Martin was that show. Martin of course focused on what it was like for most black people growing up dealing with things like racial discrimination, friendships, arguments, and relationships. But no matter what old Marty Mart would always make sure to give us a good laugh for each episode no matter what it was.
As kids, we all had a reason to want to jump off the walls and punch and kick anything in sight. Power Rangers was that show. Power Rangers has been moving the hearts of both kids and young adults for more than 30 years having multiple themes based on soo many genres. From action-packed fighting, giant Zords, and cool weapons whenever this show comes on you will know that “It’s Morphin Time”!
There is nothing funnier than looking back on those days when we were teenagers and had to go through those awkward scenarios. On My Block follows the story of teenagers trying to survive in the hood part of south-central Los Angele’s where they are constantly facing situations. From gang violence, relationship drama, and family issues, this is one teen drama that you do not want to miss.
If there was ever a Disney version of Drake and Josh, it would be the Suite Life of Zack & Cody. Dylan and Cole Sprouse at that time were all about giving us straight laughs as kids when it came to living the “Suite Life” of wanting to live the luxury life doing crazy fun stuff in a hotel and not having to worry about anything because we’re just kids.
Let me guess, you’re probably thinking that I made a mistake and meant to say WWE right? Sorry but not this time, because when it came to watching wrestling on television at the time World Wrestling Federation was ten times better than most Wrestling Shows today. Sure we all know that most wrestling promos are scripted, but what made wrestling shows at that time better than one’s today is that they barely focused on the acting and entertainment. Instead, wrestling was what it was supposed to be straight mature adult-rated action. Today’s wrestling shows will never be as good as they were back then.
From stand-up comedian to full-time Hollywood celebrity, George Lopez is no stranger when it comes to television acting. During the day he may have a simple role of being a factory manager, but at home, it’s a completely different situation. From dealing with his obnoxious kids, alcoholic mother and smothering wife George knows how to get through it all with his attitude also known as the “Lopez Way”!
Style, attitude, and class Will Smith can show it all in the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. This show at the time was more of a movement on how as black people, we were able to overcome racial stereotypes remaining in touch with our roots. A show that touches on real-world vies is considered a national treasure.
